BOLT Women in Construction Grant

The BOLT Women in Construction Grant is awarded in partnership with Support Ontario Youth and Ontario Building & Construction Tradeswomen

Successful recipients receive $500 and are connected to a female mentor from their own or similar trade to help provide additional career advice and support.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Female apprentice in a Construction sector skilled trade
  • 17 to 29 years old
  • Have an active Registered Training Agreement (RTA)
  • Living in the Greater Toronto Area
  • Can demonstrate financial need
  • A Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident

Anyone who meets the eligibility criteria above can apply for the grant at any time. 

Multiple grants are awarded throughout the year and can be applied to the costs of workwear, tools, in-class training, or living expenses.

The average time to complete the application is 1 to 2 hours.


Application Timeline

Applications are now open!

  • January 1 to March 31 (successful recipients are awarded in April)
  • April 1 to June 30 (successful recipients are awarded in July)
  • July 1 to Sept 30 (successful recipients are awarded in October)
  • Oct 1 to Dec 31 (successful recipients are awarded in January)

For example, if you submit your application in May, you will be notified in July if you were a successful recipient. 


We review all applications and determine the strongest applications based on the information provided in each. Please take your time to read the questions carefully and provide relevant and thorough information to help strengthen your application.

All information collected in your application will be received by BOLT, Support Ontario Youth, and OBCT for the sole purpose of awarding the grants.

Education

Please provide a quick summary of your pathway into your apprenticeship - such as any co-op placements, related education or pre-apprenticeship courses, or related work experience.

Please provide the name of your in-class training delivery agent  (TDA - ie. college, union or training organization name), the campus or town location, the Level and end date of this training, and a rough estimate of the costs you incurred (such as tuition and other fees, book costs etc).

Example: "Durham College - Whitby. Level 2 / Intermediate. End date Feb 12, 2022. My costs were around $700 ($520 for tuition and fees, and $180 for books)."


If you have yet to attend any classroom training, please list your nominated/elected future provider and campus, and when you expect to attend.
